Privacy and Cookies Policy

HIPAA for Caregivers is committed to ensuring the privacy of your confidential information.  We collect only such personal information as is needed to provide the information, service, or assistance that you request.

Information we collect

If you choose to contact us, we will collect personally identifying information.  For instance, this could be your name and email address.  In addition, it includes any other information you provide.  We will use this information to try to fulfill your request.  And, we may use it to provide you with additional information at a later time.

If you are involved in any training, a survey may be involved.  Within it, we may ask about your family’s experience with mental health challenges. This information allows us to improve our training. Additionally, the data may someday be used to apply for a grant.  However, none of that information would be associated with your name.  Rather, it would be included in a grant application as nonidentified data.

The other types of information gather through our website are summary server log information and data collected through analytics software.  Again, though, these are not personalized.

Finally, we will never disclose your personal information to third parties.

How Long We Keep Information

We may keep information that we collect for an unlimited period of time.  If you want us to delete it, please contact us to request that service.

Contact forms may result in emails.  These will be purged around one month after the final email.  Please note that electronic communication, particularly email, is not always safe from hackers.  Therefore, please do not send sensitive data by email either.

Cookies

We do not use any of our own cookies.  Therefore, you are not required to accept any cookies to use this site. However, third-party widgets such as YouTube may install cookies.

Also, we use a tool called “Google Analytics” to collect information about use of this site.  For instance, this includes how often users visit and what pages they visit.  Also, it notes what other sites people used prior to this site. We use the information to improve this site.  Google Analytics collects only the IP address that visits our site – non-identified information.  In other words, the data doesn’t link to any personally identifying information.

Although Google Analytics plants a cookie on your web browser to identify you as a unique user the next time you visit this site, only Google uses that cookie.  Do you want to learn more about Google’s ability to use and share information?  If so, see the Google Analytics Terms of Use and the Google Privacy Policy.  Also, there are ways to prevent your data from being collected for these purposes.  Just install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.  Or, prevent cookies by disabling cookies on your browser.

Embedded content and external links

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites acts in the exact same way as if the visitor has gone to the other website first.

These websites may collect data about you.  In addition, they may use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content.  In some cases, this may include tracking your interaction with the embedded content.

HIPAA for Caregivers is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such websites.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics, but we do not, in any way, track individuals personally.

Who we share your data with

We do not give your personal information to any third parties.  If compelled by law, we would release information gathered from our web environments.

What rights you have over your data

At any time, you may request that we delete the personal data you have given us.  This does not include any data we must keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where your data is held

Flywheel hosts this website.  And, our site is on their server that is located in the United States.  GoDaddy provides our professional email through Microsoft Outlook.  All three of these businesses have security practices to safeguard data.

How we protect your data

We protect users’ data several ways.

    • We choose high level hosting and email providers.  These companies utilize superior security and privacy practices.  For instance, our hosting service – Flywheel – uses a plugin that protects against malicious attacks.  Specifically, they only allow four attempts to login to the WordPress admin page.  Also, Intelligent IP blocking on their security systems detects intruders and blocks them within seconds.  Similarly, our professional email through GoDaddy utilizes Microsoft 365.  And, Microsoft 365 includes intelligent cloud services and advanced security.
    • Our website comes with encryption through an SSL certificate.   This protocol encrypts Internet traffic and verifies server identity.  In other words, SSL certificates make sure that a client is talking to the correct server – the one that owns the domain. And, that helps prevent malicious electronic attacks.
